Remake, by Taking Care of Business (TCB)

Practising sewing skills at TCB

Overview

Reducing unemployment, supporting small businesses, and grabbing the circular economy opportunity in the textile industry - those are words we understand. That’s why we are proud to support the Remake programme by the TCB in South Africa.

Taking Care of Business is an internationally recognised social enterprise started in 2010 in Cape Town, South Africa. Their new programme, Remake, addresses the skills gaps in the creatives industry, while solving the issue of deadstock in the textile industry. The programme trains sewists with design, micro-manufacturing, and textile repurposing skills.

The programme recruits unemployed seamstresses into an intensive 12-month enterprise development programme. During the programme, participants are given access to business, finance and life skills training, design inspiration, and extra support through coaching and mentoring.

Our Engagement

We partnered with TCB in July 2022 to support the Remake programme. We’re proud to work with an organisation like TCB and look forward to see what the programme can grow into.
