Overview

Lagos Fashion Week (26-29 October, 2022) is one of the most significant fashion weeks on the continent. It was founded in 2011 by Omoyemi Akerele to be ‘more’ than an event, but also a platform to promote and strengthen the industry. Lagos Fashion Week is committed to sustainability and we’ve therefore partnered with the platform to launch the 4th edition of the talent discovery platform ‘Green Access’. This year, Green Access will accept applications from across Africa for the first time!

Green Access is a sustainable fashion accelerator programme that nurtures young designers committed to using sustainable materials and implementing inclusive business models.

“… We have positioned the Green Access initiative as a vehicle to encourage and educate budding designers on the increasing need to build economically, environmentally, and socially sustainable fashion businesses. It’s very important that they are supported to do so when they are still in the start-up stages of their business … The partnership with BSF enables us to open the doors to emerging brands committed to designing with resource efficiency, biodegradability, and circularity in mind from across the continent, making the Green Access programme for the first time Pan-African.” Omoyemi Akerele, Founder of Lagos Fashion Week

Our engagement

We’ve partnered with the Green Access Programme to expand its reach beyond Nigeria. This year, the programme will accept applications from aspiring green designers from across the continent.

At the Foundation, we’re excited to follow the development of the programme and almost can’t wait to see the Green Access runway show in Lagos in October.
